Abuja — The Federal Government of Nigeria has called for calm following reports of missile exchanges between the United States, Israel and Iran, with retaliatory attacks said to have extended to parts of the Gulf region.

In a statement issued on Monday, Nigerian authorities urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and avoid actions that could further escalate tensions in the Middle East.

The government emphasized the need to protect civilian lives and critical infrastructure, warning that continued hostilities could have far-reaching humanitarian and economic consequences.

Reaffirming Nigeria’s longstanding non-aligned foreign policy position, officials stressed that sustainable peace can only be achieved through dialogue, respect for international law and strengthened multilateral engagement.

Nigeria also called on the international community to intensify diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and a peaceful resolution of the crisis.
