Former Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Dickson, who currently represents Bayelsa West in the Senate, made the announcement while addressing a world press conference, where he explained the reasons behind his decision to leave the PDP.
According to the former governor, his move was based on personal conviction and concerns about the current state of the party. He described the Peoples Democratic Party as being in a critical condition, likening it to a patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The senator also warned about the growing political landscape in the country, stating that Nigeria must avoid drifting into a one-party state.
Dickson said his decision was aimed at strengthening democratic competition and offering Nigerians alternative political choices.
Details of his full remarks and reactions from political stakeholders are expected to emerge as the press conference continues.
