President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja following his stay in Lagos for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations and political engagements.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who disclosed that the President departed Lagos on Wednesday evening from the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at about 6:44 p.m.

According to the statement, Tinubu had earlier returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom in the early hours of Friday and participated in the Eid-el-Fitr prayers at Dodan Barracks during his stay in Lagos.

While in the state, the President held a series of high-level meetings with political and diplomatic stakeholders. Onanuga revealed that Tinubu received 23 state governors, including Biodun Oyebanji, as well as a delegation from the European Union and members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council.

The statement also noted that Vice President Kashim Shettima visited Lagos to brief the President on his recent trip to Borno State following the latest suicide bombing incident in the region.

Several political figures were present at the President’s residence and at the airport ahead of his departure. Among them were Dapo Abiodun, former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Also in attendance were Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, alongside other senior government officials and party leaders.

President Tinubu’s return to the Federal Capital Territory comes ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention.
