Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has formally resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing his inability to advance the interests of his constituents within the party.

The resignation letter, dated 22nd May 2026, was addressed to the Chairman of Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State. It takes effect from 26th May.

Omo-Agege, who represented Delta Central in the Senate and served as Deputy President of the 9th Senate, took the decision shortly after losing the APC primaries for the same district to Senator Ede Dafinone.

In the letter, the Obarisi of Urhoboland explained that after reviewing recent developments within the APC in Delta State and consulting with associates and supporters, his political objectives can no longer be achieved under the party’s platform.

“I will not be just a sitting member in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria,” he stated.

He thanked the APC for the opportunity to serve as Deputy President of the 9th Senate, wished the party well, and requested that his name be removed from all membership records, registers, and communication lists.

Omo-Agege affirmed that his focus remains on delivering development and effective representation for his constituency and the nation, goals he said he would now pursue outside the APC.
