The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, has received the National Assembly Golden Mace Trophy won by the Hansard Department of the House at the Annual Delegate Conference of the Association of Official Reporters of Nigeria in Abuja.
Receiving the trophy in his office in Asaba, the visibly elated Speaker commended the department for making Delta State proud and sustaining the Assembly’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s vibrant legislatures.

Rt. Hon. Guwor urged the Hansard staff, popularly known as Official Verbatim Reporters, to see the award as a challenge to sustain excellence, stressing the critical role of Hansard in preserving the legislative history and integrity of the House.

Guwor, who is also the National Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, assured the department of his continued support and charged the staff to remain committed to accuracy, confidentiality and global best practices in official reporting.
“I am truly delighted that you have made Delta State proud.
Presenting the trophy, the Director of Publications, Comrade Louis Osiadi, said the award was won in a keen contest involving colleagues from State Houses of Assembly across Nigeria and other African countries.

Osiadi attributed the feat to the enabling environment and purposeful leadership provided by the Speaker and the management of the Assembly, while thanking the Speaker for his support and encouragement.

A statement made available to newsmen by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Nkem Nwaeke, added that a Letter of Appreciation from the Association of Hansard/Verbatim Reporters of Nigeria, signed by its President, Gobina Drisu, was also presented to the Speaker.
The Annual Delegate Conference of the Association of Official Reporters of Nigeria was held at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, from September 6 to 12, 2026.
The conference featured legislative engagements, including debates, official report rendition and format, chamber protocol, and stages of bills.
