President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has vowed that Nigeria will not be intimidated by terrorism following deadly attacks in Maiduguri, assuring residents that intensified military operations are underway to crush insurgents.
In a statement issued today Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President expressed deep sorrow over the incident, mourning victims and extending condolences to affected families.
“The recent news from Maiduguri is profoundly upsetting. I mourn those who lost their lives, sympathise with the injured, and stand in solidarity with the people of Borno during this challenging time,” Tinubu said.
Describing the attacks as “desperate and frantic attempts” by terrorists under sustained pressure, the President insisted that criminal elements were resorting to fear tactics as Nigerian forces continue to gain ground.

“These acts of terror are the final desperate moves by elements trying to instil fear as they face relentless pressure from our armed forces,” he stated.
Tinubu commended the military for successfully repelling coordinated assaults on security formations, praising what he called the “courage and fighting spirit” of troops and civilian task forces.
As part of a strengthened response, the President directed security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri to oversee operations directly, signaling an escalation in federal intervention.
He also revealed that additional equipment and operational support had been approved during a recent high-level security meeting to enhance the capabilities of security and intelligence agencies.
“I have directed our security chiefs to move to Maiduguri and take charge. Emergency agencies have also been instructed to provide immediate medical support for the injured,” he added.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to ending insurgency, Tinubu declared that terrorists would be pursued relentlessly across the country.
“There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them,” he said.
The President concluded with a firm message of resilience, stressing that the nation would not yield to fear or intimidation from violent groups.
