Veteran Hollywood actor and martial arts legend, Chuck Norris, has died at the age of 86, his family has confirmed.
In a statement shared on Instagram, the family expressed deep sorrow over his passing, describing him as a man who lived with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.
“He lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved,” the statement read, adding that he inspired millions around the world through his discipline, work ethic, and kindness.
Born Carlos Ray Norris in 1940 in Oklahoma, Norris joined the United States Air Force as a teenager. It was during his deployment in South Korea that he began training in martial arts, eventually earning a black belt and going on to win multiple karate championships in the 1960s.
Norris gained international recognition after starring alongside Bruce Lee in the 1972 film The Way of the Dragon, where their iconic fight scene became one of the most memorable moments in martial arts cinema.
He went on to feature in several successful action films, including Missing in Action, The Delta Force, and Code of Silence. Norris later became a household name for his role as Cordell Walker in the popular television series Walker, Texas Ranger.
His final major film appearance was in The Expendables 2.
Beyond his acting career, Norris was a passionate advocate for fitness and founded several martial arts schools. In later years, he also became a global pop culture phenomenon through the viral “Chuck Norris facts” — humorous internet memes that exaggerated his strength and toughness.
