Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Pere Egbi, has called on the Nigeria Immigration Service to deny visas to South African singer Tyla and her team.
His reaction follows reports that Nigerian singer Ayra Starr’s scheduled concert in South Africa was cancelled after she and members of her team were allegedly denied visas just days before the event.
In a post on X, Pere urged Nigerian authorities to respond with similar measures, arguing that Nigerian entertainers should not continue to face visa challenges in South Africa while South African artists are freely welcomed into Nigeria.
He also disagreed with human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, who opposed calls by some Nigerians to boycott Tyla’s planned concert in the country.
Pere wrote, “Nigerian Immigration, we are collectively imploring you to intentionally deny Tyla and her team visas as well. They can’t do this to our own and we welcome theirs. Madness must match madness.”
He maintained that Nigeria should take a firm stand over the reported treatment of Ayra Starr and her team.
