The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has directed the technical crew of the Super Falcons to step down with immediate effect.
The NFF Executive Committee announced the decision on Monday, August 17, in a brief statement on X, but did not give reasons for the directive.
The decision follows the Super Falcons’ disappointing 2026 campaign, which saw Nigeria lose to Cameroon in the WAFCON quarter-finals and subsequently miss out on qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Nigeria also suffered a 3–2 defeat to Malawi in their opening group match. Malawi, competing in the tournament for the first time, went on to reach the final.
The latest development means head coach Justin Madugu and his assistant, Godwin Okon, are expected to leave their positions.
The NFF appointed Madugu and Okon to the Super Falcons technical crew in November 2021.
