The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has honoured Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, with its Christian Icon Award for his contributions to public service, ethical leadership and Christian values.
The award was presented by CAN President, Most Reverend Daniel Okoh, during the association’s 50th anniversary celebration at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.

Presenting the award, Okoh said the recognition was reserved for leaders who demonstrate integrity, commitment to nation-building and the principles of faith and service.
In his response, Governor Oborevwori expressed gratitude to God, describing the honour as a call to greater service to humanity. He stressed that political responsibilities must not undermine one’s commitment to God.

The governor also called for unity among the five blocs of CAN, saying a united Christian community could contribute significantly to national development and strengthen national cohesion.

Among those who accompanied the governor were former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa; Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor; members of the National Assembly and other government functionaries.
