President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The development was disclosed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. However, as of the time of filing this report, the purpose of the meeting had not been made public.
Meanwhile, Jonathan has responded to recent comments made by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar regarding his performance while in office.

Atiku, speaking during a live television interview, described Jonathan as a “decent” but “inexperienced” leader, suggesting that this contributed to challenges faced during his administration.
“I know Goodluck Jonathan very well. He is a decent young man, but also inexperienced, and I believe that contributed to his inability to manage the affairs of the country, particularly when he was faced with challenges,” Atiku stated.

Reacting to the remarks on Monday at the 2025 Association of Retired Career Ambassadors of Nigeria awards ceremony in Abuja, Jonathan acknowledged that mistakes are inevitable in leadership but defended his record in office.
“If I made mistakes, yes, nobody who becomes a governor or a president will say you did not make mistakes,” Jonathan said.
He further questioned the basis of the criticism, noting that leadership is a human responsibility that comes with its own challenges.
“All human beings must make mistakes. I became president in 2010 at the age of 53. I left in 2015 at the age of 58, and they say I was too young. Must it have been 100 years before I ran the affairs of the state?” he added.
Jonathan maintained that he gave his best while serving as president and emphasized that no leader is immune to errors, regardless of experience or age.
