Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has described Nigerian women as a decisive force in shaping the nation’s political and socio-economic direction.

She made this known while speaking at the National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, where thousands of women gathered from across the six geo-political zones and the Federal Capital Territory.

Addressing the crowd, the First Lady emphasized the unity and scale of the movement, noting that it reflects a collective determination among women to influence the country’s future.

“The strength we see here today is not symbolic; it is a national declaration that Nigerian women are organised, focused, and fully prepared to shape the direction of this country with one voice and one purpose,” she said.

She commended the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development under Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, linking ongoing empowerment initiatives to policies aimed at advancing economic inclusion for women.

Highlighting the administration’s policy direction, she reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to women’s inclusion in governance.

“The Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has prioritised women’s inclusion in governance, ensuring that women have a seat at the table and a voice in the rooms where decisions are made,” she stated.

The First Lady further acknowledged the longstanding contributions of women to national development, stressing their role in sustaining families, communities, and democratic progress.

Receiving the Women’s Charter presented at the rally, she assured participants that it would be forwarded to the President for consideration.

“I have received your charter, and I assure you that I will deliver it to Mr President. This is our Charter, and we will see it to fruition,” she added.

She also praised the resilience of Nigerian women amid ongoing economic reforms, including the impact of fuel subsidy removal, describing the current phase as critical to achieving long-term national prosperity.
