Award-winning Nollywood actress, producer and filmmaker Funke Akindele has shared the personal sacrifices she made while producing her latest movie, Behind the Scenes, revealing that she deliberately put her social life on hold to ensure the project’s success.
The celebrated filmmaker disclosed that throughout the production period, she remained completely focused on the film, choosing to stay away from social gatherings, parties and routine visits to friends and loved ones. According to her, the demanding nature of the project required her full attention, leaving little room for leisure or personal engagements.
Akindele explained that there were periods when the workload became so intense that she lost sleep and occasionally forgot to eat as she worked tirelessly to meet production deadlines. She noted that every stage of the filmmaking process demanded careful planning, close supervision and unwavering commitment to achieving the standard she envisioned for the movie.
The actress said the sacrifices have yielded remarkable results, as Behind the Scenes has recorded an impressive ₦2.7 billion at the box office, making it one of the biggest commercial successes in Nollywood.
