Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior over a new contract, with an official announcement expected before the end of the week.
The breakthrough followed fresh talks on Wednesday after months of negotiations that began in January 2025. The new deal is understood to reflect Vinicius’ growing importance to the club, both on and off the pitch.
The agreement is expected to end Arsenal’s hopes of signing the 26-year-old, after the Premier League champions reportedly identified him as a top attacking target.
Vinicius scored 22 goals and provided 14 assists for Real Madrid last season, further cementing his place as one of the world’s leading forwards.
Speaking after his first training session under new manager José Mourinho, the Brazilian said he was settling in well and enjoying working with his new teammates.
According to Vinicius, Mourinho has encouraged him to remain confident, positive and continue playing his natural attacking football.
