The Delta State Government has indefinitely suspended the Commissioner for Works, Highways and Urban Roads, Honourable Izeze Ruben Yakubu, with immediate effect.

The suspension was announced in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu.

According to the statement, the decision is to allow security agencies to conduct an impartial investigation into allegations linking the commissioner to the alleged assault of the Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, Mr. Simeon Mudi, also known as “Tempo,” at the Petroleum Training Institute, PTI, Effurun.

The state government said the suspension is an administrative measure to ensure the investigation is carried out without interference.

It reaffirmed its commitment to public safety, law and order, and the protection of lives, stressing that the principle applies even when government institutions are involved.

The government did not state how long the investigation would take or when the commissioner might be reinstated.
