The Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO)Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala arrived in delta state ahead of the 2026 Delta State Economic and Investment Summit.

Dr. Okonjo Iweala Arrived at the asaba international airport on sunday August 2, where she was received by the chief of staff to the Delta State Governor Chief Johnson Erijoe, on behalf of Governor Sherrif Oborevwori.

The Delta State, Economic and Investment Summit, is scheduled to hold from to Wednesday. It is expected, to bring together keynote speakers, international investors, business leaders, policymakers and development partners, from across the world.

With growing global interest in sectors such as agriculture, the blue economy, energy, manufacturing, and other high potential for industries, the summit is designed, to showcase Delta State’s investment opportunities and strengthen partnerships that will drive sustainable economic growth.

Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Finance, Investment and International Development, Barrister George Orogun, says the summit represents a significant step, towards converting international interest, into long-term investments, that will benefit the state.

Earlier, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori personally received Brazilian economist and international business consultant, Roberto Giannetti da Fonseca, at the Osubi Airport in Warri. Da Fonseca arrived on Saturday, August 1st , ahead of the economic and investment summit.
Meanwhile other investors are still arriving the state .
