Lagos State Government has encouraged parents and guardians to support and motivate their children and wards to take advantage of the ongoing recruitment exercise into the Nigerian Army, describing it as an opportunity for a secure future and career development.

The Secretary to the Lagos State Government (SSG), Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, made the call during an interview with the Bond FM News and Current Affairs Unit.

Mrs. Salu-Hundeyin noted that service in the Nigerian Army remains a noble and rewarding profession, adding that the military has undergone significant modernization through the acquisition of sophisticated equipment and technology to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen national security.

According to her, the recruitment exercise provides young Nigerians with an avenue to contribute to national development while acquiring valuable skills, discipline, and opportunities for career advancement.

The SSG further disclosed that the Lagos State Government has introduced incentives and stipends for indigent youths who are interested in joining the Nigerian Army, ensuring that financial challenges do not prevent qualified candidates from participating in the recruitment process.

Reacting to speculations that newly recruited personnel are enlisted solely for combat operations, Mrs. Salu-Hundeyin dismissed the claims, explaining that the exercise is aimed at creating employment opportunities, providing professional training, and encouraging national service among eligible youths.

She reiterated the commitment of the Lagos State Government to youth empowerment through various initiatives and urged qualified candidates across the state to register for the ongoing recruitment exercise before the closing date.

Mrs. Salu-Hundeyin also appealed to community leaders, parents, and other stakeholders to encourage eligible youths to participate in the exercise and contribute meaningfully to the peace, security, and development of the nation.
