The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to reducing unemployment, promoting entrepreneurship, and creating sustainable economic opportunities for residents through strategic interventions and partnerships.

The Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), Mrs. Feyisayo Alayande, gave the assurance during a media parley held in Alausa, Ikeja, to commemorate the agency’s tenth anniversary.

Mrs. Alayande explained that the establishment of LSETF in 2016 was a deliberate effort by the state government to address unemployment and support wealth creation through access to finance, skills development, capacity building, market access, and support for the technology ecosystem.

She disclosed that the agency has facilitated the creation of more than 320,000 direct and indirect jobs and disbursed over ₦15 billion in loans to more than 20,000 micro, small and medium-scale enterprises across Lagos State.

The LSETF Executive Secretary also underscored the importance of partnerships with local and international organisations in expanding the agency’s reach and impact. She called on the media to intensify awareness campaigns on the programmes and opportunities available through the fund.

Mrs. Alayande noted that access to opportunities remains crucial to unlocking the potential of Lagos residents, adding that the agency’s loan repayment rate of 94.5 per cent reflects the credibility, resilience and commitment of entrepreneurs in the state.

As LSETF begins a new decade of service, she reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to expanding access to capital, skills acquisition programmes and innovation support aimed at fostering inclusive economic growth.
