The Oyo State Government has received two surveillance aircraft to strengthen efforts to combat insecurity across the state.
The aircraft arrived on Tuesday at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan and are expected to improve aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering and rapid response to security threats in Oyo State and neighbouring communities.
According to the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, the aircraft will enhance the operations of security agencies, including the Amotekun Corps, by helping to monitor criminal activities and support faster security interventions.
Governor Seyi Makinde, who was present to receive the aircraft, had earlier announced that they arrived in Nigeria on July 18 and were being reassembled at the Nigerian Air Force hangar in Lagos before their delivery to Oyo State.
The purchase of the two surveillance aircraft was announced in July 2025 as part of the state government’s strategy to strengthen security and tackle crimes such as kidnapping, banditry and other criminal activities.
