The Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni, has issued a stern warning to individuals involved in criminal activities to desist or face the full weight of the law.

Speaking during a familiarisation visit by the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, to the local government, Ofoni stressed that the people of Uvwie are traditionally known for values such as courage, hospitality, accountability and loyalty.

The council chairman urged residents and indigenes not to allow modernisation erode the positive values of the community, noting that social vices such as drug abuse, cultism and kidnapping are not part of the heritage of the people.

Ofoni called on security agencies, including the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and other stakeholders to collaborate in tackling crime and eliminating traces of drug abuse and cultism within the area.

He also appealed to parents to play active roles in raising their children with strong moral values, while warning those involved in criminal acts to turn a new leaf or be prepared to face legal consequences.

The chairman reaffirmed his commitment to making Uvwie safe and prosperous, in line with the development and More Agenda Policy of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, aimed at strengthening peace and security across the state.
