The United States military says it carried out fresh overnight airstrikes on military command centres of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and drone facilities.
The operation came after US President Donald Trump vowed to retaliate following Iran’s launch of ballistic missiles at American forces stationed in Jordan.
Iranian state media reported that at least three people were killed in the strikes on Qeshm Island.
Meanwhile, a US-owned floating storage tanker was reportedly hit by a drone at an Egyptian port on the Mediterranean Sea, according to British maritime security firm Ambrey, raising concerns over a further escalation of the five-month conflict.
Earlier, US and Saudi forces also carried out strikes on Iran-backed groups in eastern Iraq.
