The All Progressives Congress (APC), Uvwie Chapter in Delta State, has denied allegations linking the party and the host of the Delta Central Strategic Convergence, Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni, who is also the Executive Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Area, to the violent incident involving Mr. Mudi Temple, Senior Special Assistant on Protocol to the Governor of Delta State. The incident reportedly occurred at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Conference Centre in Effurun.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the APC Uvwie Chapter Chairman, Comrade Dick Sylvester Oghenevwede, said neither the party nor Hon. Ofoni had any involvement in the incident.
According to the statement, the Delta Central APC Strategic Convergence was organised to strengthen party unity, improve mobilisation, and advance the party’s “5/5 Agenda” ahead of the 2027 general elections. The meeting brought together elected officials, party executives, youth and women leaders, and other stakeholders.
The chairman explained that the meeting ended successfully, noting that the violence did not occur inside the conference hall but within the premises of the PTI Conference Centre.
The APC urged the public to avoid drawing conclusions before investigations are concluded, stressing that its political activities are based on peaceful democratic engagement.
The party also called on security agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation and ensure that anyone found responsible is prosecuted, regardless of political affiliation.
Meanwhile, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, has directed security agencies to carry out a comprehensive investigation and ensure that all those involved in the assault are brought to justice.
