The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been invited for questioning over allegations he made against senior police officer, Assistant Inspector-General of Police Moshood Jimoh.

Police spokesperson, CSP Ani Iniedu, said the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja also invited AIG Jimoh as part of an internal investigation into the claims.

According to the Police, VeryDarkMan was asked to appear before the Force CID to provide evidence supporting the allegations he made publicly.

The Force said the investigation reflects its commitment to accountability, stressing that no officer is above the law, regardless of rank.

It, however, noted that the criminal case referenced by the activist is already before a competent court following legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, making the matter sub judice.

The Police urged the public to allow the court process to run its course and cautioned against attempts to influence the case through media campaigns.

The Force also called on VeryDarkMan to honour the invitation and cooperate with investigators, assuring Nigerians that any officer found guilty after investigation would face appropriate disciplinary action, while anyone found to have made false allegations could also face legal consequences.
