A group, the Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD), on Friday staged a protest in Abuja to decry the continued discrimination against persons living with disabilities
The group said that despite the signing of the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act by former President Muhammadu Buhari in January 2019, little progress has been made in addressing their concerns.
The protesters embarked on a sensitisation walk, calling on the Federal Government to establish a commission dedicated to the welfare and protection of persons with disabilities.
They also urged authorities to ensure the full implementation of disability rights laws, equal employment opportunities, and greater inclusion in government programmes.
The protest is part of ongoing advocacy efforts by persons with disabilities to secure equal rights, accessibility, and improved welfare across the country.
